Why is Paramount Plus not working on my TV?

Paramount Plus isn’t working on your TV because it isn’t compatible with it. Other common issues include internet problems, app versions, and bugs and glitches. Or your subscription plan to the platform might already be expired.

7 reasons why Paramount Plus is not working on your TV

#1: Your TV isn’t compatible with Paramount Plus

The streaming service doesn’t have high system requirements.

Yet TV compatibility is one of the most common issues with Paramount Plus. 

For one, it’s not made available in older TV models.

So, here are the TVs it’s compatible with Paramount Plus:

#2 Your internet is unstable or slow

Paramount Plus requires at least 4mbps to run which isn’t that big of a requirement.

However, there could be a few issues that could cause your internet to be unstable or spotty.

First off, you should check if you’re getting the connection speed as stated in your data plan. 

Access Fast or Speedtest from your desktop browser for better accuracy. And check up on your speed at least 3 times.

Now, if your connection speed is inconsistent throughout the test, this can cause problems with your Paramount Plus.

A quick solution to this would be to:

  1. Turn off your router and unplug it.
  2. Leave it off for 10-15 seconds.
  3. Plug it back in and turn it on.

If this doesn’t work, contact your service provider for help and troubleshooting.

#3: Your router is too far from the TV

Is your TV connected to the network wirelessly?

If so, you should consider the range between the TV and the router too. 

There are two ways to resolve this issue aside from moving them closer together.

First is to buy an ethernet cable to connect to your TV. This stabilizes your connection to the router and it’s easy to set up as well.

Another is to switch to a 2.4 GHz location. This is better for long-range wireless connectivity. 

To do this, you should:

  1. Open your TV’s network settings.
  2. Find the network with a default name with a “2” at the end.
  3. Connect to it.

Reminder: Devices automatically connect to a 5GHz network. These provide stronger connections but at shorter distances only.

#4:TV issues

The Paramount Plus app on your TV will start to slow down. This happens because it starts to take up more memory from updates and general usage.

Aside from slowing down, its data consumption will also lead to bugs and glitches. This can prevent it from working on your TV.

So what to do?

Rebooting any smart TV is simple, you just need to:

  1. Turn off your TV.
  2. Unplug it.
  3. Leave it off for 10-15 seconds.
  4. Turn it back on it.

What this does is that it resets your TV – clearing problems along the way.

Note: Some smart TVs allow you to restart the system altogether. This is a fast way to reboot it. The option can be found in the Settings/Options menu on TVs.

#5: Paramount Plus error codes

The Paramount Plus app on your TV can get some error codes along the way. The most common are:

  • 1106.
  • 6999.
  • 3002.
  • 3005.
  • 6590.
  • 6310.

These error codes are harmless and only pose a temporary problem for your app. While the causes aren’t specific, the most common reason for these error codes is URL problems.

To resolve the problem:

  1. Click OK when the error message appears.
  2. Wait for the new page to load, which helps solve the issue.
  3. Relaunch the app.

Another common error code on TVs running Paramount Plus is 3200. This points to a streaming error. To solve the issue:

  1. Turn off your device and unplug it.
  2. Wait for 30 seconds.
  3. Plug the device back in.

#6: There’s a pending update

Paramount Plus receives updates from time to time. This helps add new shows and features to the streaming platform. 

Additionally, it also helps fix bugs related to crashes.

Updates should install automatically. However, if your TV’s connection to the internet is disconnected, that update will be postponed.

Here’s how you can update it manually:

For Apple TV:

  1. Open the Paramount Plus app.
  2. Select Settings.
  3. Select System.
  4. Select Software Updates.

For Android TV:

  1. Open Apps.
  2. Select Google Play Store.
  3. Select My Apps.
  4. Look for Paramount Plus and proceed with the update.

For Fire TV:

  1. Highlight Paramount Plus from the menu.
  2. Click the Menu button on the remote.
  3. Select More Info.
  4. Select Update.
  5. Select Update Now.

For LG TV:

  1. Click Settings on the remote.
  2. Select All Settings.
  3. Select General.
  4. Select About This TV.
  5. Select Check for Updates.

For Vizio TV:

  1. Click Menu on the remote.
  2. Select System.
  3. Select Check for Updates.

For Samsung TV: 

  1. Open Smart Hub 
  2. Select Samsung Apps
  3. Look for Paramount Plus
  4. Select Update App

#7: Your Paramount Plus subscription is expired

You’ll be notified when your Paramount Plus is about to expire. If your payment option has enough funds, it’ll renew automatically. 

You can check and manage your Paramount Plus account, proceed with these steps:

  1. Visit Paramount Plus.
  2. Click Account.
  3. Manage your billing and subscription in the following menu.
