#1: Wait for an hour
A blinking green light doesn’t always mean something’s wrong with your router.
See, this also happens whenever your device has an ongoing activity.
Like when it’s downloading or uploading data.
So, if you can still connect to the network with no noticeable changes to your Internet speed…
I suggest waiting temporarily for this blinking light to disappear.
This way, you can give your router enough time to finish its ongoing tasks.
However, if you can’t use the Internet…
Or if you’ve waited for over an hour yet your router’s LED light still blinks green…
Proceed to the next solutions.
Because these 2 scenarios indicate that…
Your router is blinking green since it’s experiencing problems. Not because it has ongoing activities.
#2: Check if there’s a service interruption
Xfinity sometimes schedules network maintenance ahead of time.
But in some instances…
The brand temporarily stops its service in a specific area. So it can fix unexpected network issues.
In both of these events…
All Xfinity router users, including you, will experience connectivity problems.
And the blinking green light on your device will only stop once the company fixes the issue.
“How do I check if Xfinity has a service outage?”
Easy. Just follow these…
Steps to check if your network is undergoing maintenance:
Step 1: Sign in to your Xfinity account
Head to the company’s official website.
And once you’ve successfully logged in…
Step 2: Tap the Account icon
This is the purple-colored person logo on the page.
Step 3: Select Support
You’ll find this in the pop-up window that appears.
Step 4: Choose Status Center
When you scroll down…
You’ll find this under the Common Solutions section.
Step 5: Observe the banner at the top
If you see a red sign…
That means there’s ongoing server maintenance in your location.
Thus, you should simply wait for Xfinity to fix the problem.
However, if you see a green check icon with this text:
“Everything looks good!”
Then, there are no current service interruptions in the area.
So, you should proceed to the next fix.
#3: Reseat router’s cables
Loosely connected cords also cause this blinking green light problem.
Because they cause an unstable network connection.
So, for this solution…
You should reseat your device’s cables. Or temporarily unplug your router’s cords before you plug them in again.
“Do I need to turn OFF my router for this fix?”
You can unplug your router’s cable while it’s still ON.
And if you need specific steps for this process…
Here’s how you can reseat your router’s cables:
- Figure out how many cords your Xfinity device has.
- Unplug every cable consecutively.
- Wait for 1 minute.
- Plug the cords into the router again (in any order).
After this process, observe your Xfinity router for 15 minutes.
And if the blinking green light still appears…
#4: Check for physical cord damage
This process is similar to the previous fix.
But instead of simply replugging your router’s cables…
You should inspect each of them carefully.
That said, here’s how you can…
Check if your router’s cords have physical damage:
Step 1: Remove your device’s cables
You should unplug both connectors of each cord from the ports they’re plugged into.
Step 2: Place your cables in a well-lit area
Just lay them on top of a table, then…
Step 3: Inspect each cord
Lift each cable and look out for any of these signs:
- Tears or open wires.
Note: These are indicators that your cord is damaged. So, if you see any of these on a specific cable, replace it with a new one.
However, if you don’t spot any of the signs above…
Plug the cords into your router again. And proceed to…
#5: Power cycle your router
Similar to other devices like your phone or PC…
Your Xfinity router runs multiple tasks at any given time.
Now, your device is more than capable of handling these activities.
However, on rare occasions…
Your router becomes too overwhelmed with its tasks, causing it to glitch.
As a result, your Internet slows down.
Or you see a green blinking light on your router.
A power cycle is enough to stop your WiFi source from glitching.
Now, don’t worry if you’re not familiar with this term yet.

Power cycle your Xfinity router:
- Unplug your device’s power cord from the outlet.
- Wait for 1 minute.
- Plug your router into its power source again.
- Wait for all of its LEDs to turn green.

#6: Disconnect devices from your router
Here’s another reason your router glitches:
Too many devices are using its network.
See, while you can connect dozens of gadgets to your Xfinity WiFi if you wish to…
You really shouldn’t have more than 10 devices using your network simultaneously.
Because the more gadgets you connect to your WiFi…
The slower your Internet would be. And the heavier your router’s tasks become.
Over time, your network would simply become too slow.
And when it can’t function efficiently…
It’ll start flashing green lights.
Don’t worry, though.
It’s pretty easy to stop this problem.

All you need to do is disconnect other devices from your WiFi.
Now, you can do this process manually. Meaning you should go to each of your device’s Settings apps. And make each gadget forget your WiFi.

My go-to shortcut for removing devices from my Xfinity network:
Step 1: Log in to Xfinity’s official website
Open your phone or PC’s browser.
Then, head to login.xfinity.com/login.
Once the page loads…
Follow the on-screen prompts to sign in to your Xfinity account.
Step 2: Tap the My Account heading
You’ll find this on the top-left part of your screen.
And it’s the 4th heading from the left.
Step 3: Choose Settings
This option is just below the My Account text you clicked earlier.
Step 4: Select Internet
You’ll see this under the XFINITY Services section.
Step 5: Tap WiFi credentials
This option is written in blue.
And it’s located in the center part of your screen.
Once a new page appears…
Step 6: Click Edit beside the “WiFi password” text
You’ll find this on the right side of the heading.
Step 7: Input your new password
After doing so, simply tap the Save option.
At this point, you’ve successfully changed your network’s password.
So, just power cycle your router to restart its system.
Then, observe if it’s still blinking green light.
Pro tip: Limit the number of devices using your WiFi to 10. This way, you’ll prevent overwhelming your router. And your gadgets will also have a much faster Internet connection.

#7: Factory reset your device
If none of the fixes above stopped the problem…
It’s time to do your last resort: factory resetting your router.
Warning: This process reverts your WiFi source into its factory settings. That means you’ll delete your network’s custom name and password. And you’ll also disconnect the devices using your WiFi.
Now, before you proceed…
Important: Prepare a toothpick, paperclip, or a phone’s SIM card key. You’ll need a sharp object for this process. Because your router’s Reset button is hidden inside a tiny hole.

3 easy steps to factory reset your Xfinity router:
Step 1: Locate your router’s Reset button
You’ll find this at the back of your device. Where all your router’s ports are located.
Step 2: Grab the object you prepared
Position its pointy end near the hole of your router’s Reset button.
Step 3: Factory reset your network
Push your object into the hole until you feel the button inside compress.
And keep pressing it for 30 seconds. Or until all of your router’s LED lights turn OFF.
