Why is Peacock not working on Vizio TV?

Peacock isn’t working on Vizio TV because Peacock’s servers are down, or there’s a glitch in your system. It can also be caused by an outdated app or software and sometimes by an overloaded memory cache.

Peacock not working on Vizio TV: 7 fixes

#1: Log it out from all devices

Everybody says to keep your account private.

But I guess paid streaming platform accounts are an exception to this rule, right?

I mean, who doesn’t share their streaming accounts these days?

But unfortunately, there’s a downside to this whole-hearted act.

If you’re sharing your Peacock account with others…

Then that could be the reason why yours isn’t loading.

Peacock TV only allows 3 profiles to watch at the same time.

You’d likely receive an error message if too many users are already watching.

So to fix this error, you need to sign out from all your devices.

To log out Peacock from all devices:

  1. On your phone or computer, go to Peacock’s website
  2. Log in to your account.
  3. On the top-right, click your profile icon.
  4. Go to Account.
  5. Proceed to Devices.
  6. Click Other devices.
  7. Tap Sign Out All.

Try logging in using your credentials again.

#2: Ensure that there’s no server outage

If your Peacock app won’t load or open at all…

Likely, the problem isn’t from your end but from Peacock’s servers.

If the servers are down, the app won’t work.

And this isn’t just true for yours, but for every Peacock app worldwide.

So, there’s nothing you can do to fix this if the servers are the problem.

All you can do is wait and try it again at a later date or time.

“How do I know if the server is down?”

If Peacock’s servers aren’t down, then the following fix you need to try is to…

#3: Power cycle your Vizio TV

A power cycle? I don’t even know what that is.”

I know it’s such a fancy-sounding term.

But to put power cycling simply…

It’s the act of turning a device ON and OFF by unplugging it from the socket.

But how would unplugging my TV fix my app?”

Well, when apps stop working on your Vizio TV…

It’s not always because of the app.

Sometimes the TV itself can glitch or become overwhelmed by its active tasks.

And this causes your TV to lose control of the specific command you’re giving it.

So even when you ask for a simple task like opening the Peacock app…

Your TV is too busy to even recognize your request.

But don’t worry. I’ll teach you how to get your TV back on track quickly.

To power cycle your Vizio TV:

Step 1: Unplug the cord of the TV. You can do this from the back of the TV or the outlet. Do whichever is more convenient for you.

Step 2: Hold the power button of your TV for at least 5 seconds. Doing this drains the remaining power on your TV’s capacitors.

Step 3: Reconnect your TV to the power and try turning it back ON.

And while the power cycling process is still fresh on your mind, I suggest you also…

#4: Power cycle your router

What does my router have to do with Peacock not working?”

Peacock TV requires internet stability like other streaming platforms such as Youtube TV.

Having a slow internet connection will interrupt your Peacock app’s performance.

Or worse…

Even stop it from launching or loading at all.

But I don’t think I have a slow internet.”

It’s hard to grasp how fast your internet is from experience alone.

So even if you think you’re internet is fast enough…

I recommend you still try to power cycle your router.

Trust me. Such a simple process can give your internet a noticeable speed boost.

To power cycle your router:

Step 1: Disconnect all the cables connected to it, including the power cord.

Step 2: Wait for at least 30 seconds.

Step 3: Plug your router into its power source again. Reconnect all the cables you removed in step 1.

Step 4: Double-check if your TV is still connected to your router once it’s ON.

This process is capable of fixing any minor glitches on your internet connection.

After it’s done, try to play from the Peacock app again.

#5: Update your Peacock app

There’s a reason why all popular devices and apps release updates regularly.

And that’s because they’re the best defense you have against glitches and bugs.

So if your Peacock app isn’t up to date…

That can explain why it’s not working on your TV.

But if having missed updates is the reason why your app isn’t working…

You can go ahead and relax.

Updating an app on your TV isn’t too different from updating apps on your phone.

Just a few clicks…

And before you know it, your app’s been updated already.

So let’s go ahead and do it.

To update your Peacock app:

  1. Turn your TV ON.
  2. On your remote, tap the V or VIA button.
  3. Find the Peacock app among the displayed apps.
  4. Select the app.
  5. Press the yellow button on your remote.
  6. If you see the option to update, select it.

Too easy of a fix, right?

Once your app is updated, try to see if it’s working again.

Buf it’s still not working as it’s supposed to…

Don’t worry.

There’s still an important update waiting for your attention, which is to…

#6: Update your Vizio TV

Update Your Vizio TV

Updating your app without updating your TV is like…

Choosing to ride a bike up a very steep hill.

Sure, you can make it work.

But why go through all the trouble if you can choose another route instead?

Updating your TV is like offering a paved downhill to the bike, representing your app.

Your app won’t need to use too much effort to move with a downhill route, right?

So…

To update your Vizio TV:

  1. Press the V button on your remote.
  2. On the menu that pops up, select System.
  3. Go to Check for Updates.
  4. If there’s an update available, confirm that you want it.
  5. Wait for the download process to finish.

Note: Your TV might turn ON and OFF more than once during the update process. Rest assured that this is perfectly normal. Don’t interact with your TV while the update is ongoing.

#7: Reinstall the Peacock app

Deleting your app clears all of its current cache and files on your TV.

And if you’re wondering what they are…

They’re the files and storage area your TV uses to process your requests faster.

But although these data are meant to help you have a better experience…

Over time, they start to contain more than they can handle.

And this causes your Peacock to overload or glitch.

But fortunately, clearing these files is easy.

All you need to do is delete the app and reinstall it again.

I’ll guide you through the step-by-step process, so don’t worry.

To delete the Peacock app:

  1. Tap the V on your remote.
  2. Your installed apps will show at the bottom.
  3. Find and select the Peacock app.
  4. Click the yellow button on your remote.
  5. Select Delete App.
  6. Press OK and confirm the app’s deletion.

Wait for a few minutes, and then proceed to…

Reinstall the app:

  1. Press the V on your remote.
  2. Select Connected TV Store > All Apps.
  3. Find Peacock among these apps and highlight it.
  4. Click Install App.

Once you open Peacock again, it’ll be faster and more responsive.

Bonus: Do a factory reset

If none of the above methods could fix your Peacock app…

Unfortunately, the only choice you’re left with is to do a factory reset.

This process will delete all the saved files and data on your TV.

In other words, it’ll return your TV settings to what they were when it was brand new.

Note: A factory reset will disconnect your connections and log you out of your apps. Ensure that you know the credentials of all the apps you need before proceeding.

To factory reset your Vizio TV:

  1. Press the menu button on your remote.
  2. Head to System > Reset & Admin.
  3. Select Reset to Factory Settings.

Note: In other models, “System” is labeled as “Help.”
