How to get a Jackbox on Roku?

Jackbox isn’t available on Roku TV unless you use third-party hardware to run the app. The three primary ways to get it are through Chromecast, a Firestick or Apple TV, or through a gaming console.

3 easy ways to get Jackbox on Roku

#1: Use Chromecast

First of all, every Roku TV has an HDMI port installed at the back.

And with the help of Chromecast, you can mirror Jackbox games from your phone to your Roku. This is the easiest way to start running the gaming platform.

Before you proceed with using Chromecast, make sure that your device is running Android 5.0 and above. Check it out by:

  1. Opening your Settings.
  2. Tapping on System.
  3. Tapping Android Version.

Now, let’s proceed with running Jackbox.

How to mirror via Chromecast

Step 1: Connect your Android device and Chromecast to the same Wi-Fi network.

Step 2: Tap on the Google Home app on your Android device.

Step 3: Look for your Chromecast on the device selection screen.

Step 4: Tap Cast My Screen.

Step 5: Run Jackbox on your Android device.

Here’s a quick video tutorial:

Step 1: Open the Google Home app from your Android device.

Step 2: Select Stop mirroring.

Reminder: To improve mirroring quality, Google says to turn off the Power Saving Mode on your Android device.

Moreover, don’t forget to give permission to your Microphone as well. Google Play Services needs this to cast your screen. Here’s how:

  1. Go to Settings.
  2. Select Apps.
  3. Look for Google Play Services.
  4. Tap Permissions and allow access to Microphone.

#2: Use a Firestick or Apple TV

Use A Firestick

Both Apple TV and Firestick come with their app stores, where Jackbox is available to download.

Unlike Chromecast, you don’t need to mirror the gaming platform from a tablet or a smartphone.

How to play Jackbox Games via Firestick

Step 1: Run your Firestick device and connect it to a Wi-Fi network.

Step 2: Tap on the search option at the top left of the menu.

Step 3: Search for Jackbox Party Games and find the pack that you want to purchase.

Step 4:  Wait for the app to download and then launch it.

Reminder: This method will allow you to run Jackbox on your Roku TV without mirroring from an Android device.

However, you’ll still need a separate tablet or smartphone to play the game. You can connect your device easily. Here’s how:

  1. Launch Jackbox from your TV.
  2. Wait for the 4-letter room code in the lobby.
  3. Open jackbox.tv using your phone or tablet.
  4. Put in the code.
  5. Press Play.

Reminder: The first player to join will be the VIP. They’ll act as the game master who’ll start the games to be played.
