(7 Fixes) Insignia TV Volume Too Low [Updated 2023]

Insignia TV Volume Too Low

I almost threw the remote at my Insignia TV once.

Because no matter how much I increased the volume…

I could still barely hear the movie I was watching.

Fortunately, though, I eventually fixed the problem.

And now, I want to help you.

Continue reading to find out:

  • 7 instant solutions to this Insignia volume problem.
  • How you can adjust your TV settings to improve its audio.
  • The most common reasons why the volume is too low on your TV.
  • And this is just the beginning…

Why is the volume too low on my Insignia TV?

The volume is too low on your Insignia TV because the device is glitching. This also happens when the TV’s equalizer isn’t optimized. Or the bass and treble volumes are too low. In other cases, the Insignia TV is outdated and must be updated to its latest firmware.

Insignia TV volume too low: 7 fixes

#1: Power cycle your TV

Before you dive into your TV settings…

Try to power cycle your TV.

“What’s that?”

It’s the process of plugging and unplugging your TV from the outlet.

Simple, right? But despite its simplicity, this process is very effective.

See, a power cycle can even fix an Insignia TV that can’t turn ON

And if you’re wondering how this simple process can solve many problems…

It’s because power cycling drains all of your device’s power. And as a result, your TV can:

  • Delete its temporary caches.
  • Stop its background and active tasks.
  • Remove any minor glitches or bugs from the system.

So not only can you fix your device’s volume problem through a power cycle…

But you’ll also help your TV work better and more efficiently.

With that in mind…

Here’s how you can power cycle your Insignia TV:

  1. Turn OFF your Insignia TV.
  2. Unplug it from the wall outlet.
  3. Press the power button on the TV for 10 seconds.
  4. Wait for 1 minute.
  5. Plug your TV into its power source again.
  6. Turn ON your TV.

Now, try to check if your Insignia TV’s volume is louder.

#2: Turn your TV speakers OFF and ON

Just like you unplugged your TV and then plugged it back into its power source…

You should also turn your speakers OFF and turn them ON once more.

See, this will reset your TV speakers. And get rid of any issues preventing it from playing loudly.

Now, the exact steps to this process will depend on the model of your TV.

But to give you an example of how this process usually goes, here’s how you can…

Turn OFF the TV speakers of Insignia 32” LCD TV (NS-LBD32X-10A):

  1. Press Menu on the remote.
  2. On the main menu window, select Audio.
  3. Navigate using the up and down arrows.
  4. Hover over Speakers and toggle it OFF.
  5. Restart your TV.
  6. Repeat steps 1-3.
  7. This time, toggle Speakers ON.

Note: Refer to your TV’s user manual if you’re seeing different options.

After this fix, try watching a movie or show on your TV again.

Did the sound improve? Or is it still too low?

If you’re still not getting the optimal audio quality you want, then…

#3: Adjust your audio settings

See, many factors influence your TV’s audio.

So to make your TV speakers louder, you need to optimize them.

For this fix, you’re going to adjust these audio settings on your TV:

  • Equalizer.
  • Bass and treble.

Because they’re the ones that can make the most difference in the sound you hear.

With that, let’s start with…

Adjusting your TV’s audio equalizer:

  1. Click Menu on your remote.
  2. Head to Audio.
  3. Select Equalizer.
  4. Raise all the frequency bands to +5 dB.

Bear in mind that by raising the loudness of all the bands…

You’re also increasing the overall volume of your TV.

However, you shouldn’t max these to bands to +10 dB. As you might hear audio distortion at that point.

Now that you’ve adjusted the equalizer, it’s time to…

Increase your TV’s bass and treble:

  1. Tap the Menu button on your remote.
  2. Hover over Audio.
  3. Navigate to Bass and raise it to 75.
  4. Move down to the Treble and make it 75 as well.

Note: You can choose to set these values to 100. But doing so might distort your TV’s audio.

At this point, you should try to play any media on your TV.

Observe if the sound is now loud enough.

But if it’s still too low for your liking, then…

#4: Reset Insignia TV’s audio settings

Now, if the previous fix didn’t change your audio’s loudness at all…

Then your audio settings may be glitching. That’s why the changes you made didn’t register with the system.

But luckily, it’s very easy to…

Reset your audio settings:

  1. Click Menu on your remote.
  2. Tap Audio > Reset Audio Settings.
  3. Confirm that you want to proceed.
  4. Restart your Insignia TV.

Now, try to see if you’ve fixed the audio problem.

#5: Update your Insignia TV

Update Your Insignia TV

When was the last time you updated your TV?

If it’s been over a month, or you simply can’t remember…

Then the next fix you should do is to update your Insignia TV.

See, updates ensure that all your TV settings and features remain functional.

And they also guarantee that your TV remains compatible with your streaming apps.

Need a refresher on how to update your TV? I got you.

  5. Download your TV’s latest firmware.
  6. Transfer the file to a USB drive.
  7. Turn ON your TV.

#6: Factory reset Insignia

Your TV’s volume is really keeping up a fight to stay low, huh?

But don’t worry. You still have a way to kick this issue out of your device.

See, you can still conduct a factory reset.

“What’s that?”

It’s a process that’ll delete all data from your Insignia TV, including your:

  • Installed apps.
  • Saved accounts.
  • Custom settings and preferences.

So before you proceed…

Note: Ensure that you take note of all the important information on your device. Because after the factory reset, you won’t be able to reaccess the data on your TV anymore.

Now, you’re probably thinking…

“Why do I have to delete my information to fix my audio?”

And to answer that…

It’s because a factory reset can also remove the stubborn glitches and bugs on your TV.

So with that said, here are the steps to…

Factory reset your Insignia TV:

  1. Click Home on your remote.
  2. Select Settings > Device & Software.
  3. Tap Reset to Factory Defaults.

Note: Don’t turn OFF your TV while the factory reset is ongoing.

Once your TV screen turns ON again, try launching some streaming apps. And check if the audio is now louder.

No luck, still? Then it’s time to…

#7: Contact Insignia or your local technicians

If none of the solutions above fixed your TV’s audio problem…

Then you need to get in touch with professionals like Insignia representatives. Or your local technicians.

See, your TV speakers may be faulty or damaged.

Or your TV itself might be having serious firmware problems.

And either way, only experienced professionals can fix them.

Now, if it’s been less than a year since you bought your TV…

I recommend contacting Insignia because they’ll fix or even replace your TV for free.

To do so, you can call them at 1-877-467-4289 from 8 AM to 9 PM Central Time.

But if you prefer emailing them instead, you should head to their official support page. And fill up the necessary details and information.

However, if your device isn’t under warranty anymore…

You can also get your TV fixed by reliable local technicians instead.

Because they usually charge less than official companies. And you can also get them fixed relatively quickly.

Bonus: Connect your TV to a soundbar

Want an easy workaround for your weak Insignia TV speakers?

Then try to connect your device to an external soundbar instead.

This way, you’ll still enjoy the cinematic sounds of your favorite shows and movies. Even if your TV speakers aren’t in their best condition.

And if you’re interested in getting 1 for your TV…

I highly recommend buying this Bestisan soundbar from Amazon.

Because it only costs less than $100, but the quality it gives is double its price.

With that said, once you have your soundbar ready…

Follow these steps to connect a soundbar to your Insignia TV:

  1. Turn ON your TV.
  2. Go to the Settings menu.
  3. Select Display & Sounds.
  4. From the list, select Audio Output.
  5. Turn the TV Speakers option OFF.
  6. Repeat steps 3 and 4.
  7. From the list, select Digital Audio Format.
  8. Tap Auto.

Note: The exact steps may vary depending on the model of your Insignia TV.

Now, all you need to do is connect the soundbar to your TV using 1 of these connections:

  • Bluetooth.
  • An optical cable.
  • Stereo RCA cables.

And your Insignia TV’s audio will automatically project through your external speakers.

Insignia TV volume stuck on low – what should I do?

If your Insignia TV is stuck on low, you should power cycle your device. Then, try to boost the bass and treble on your audio settings. So you’ll hear a louder volume. If that doesn’t help, reset your audio settings. And you should also update your Insignia TV.

If the problem persists, conduct a factory reset. And as a last resort, contact Insignia or your local technicians.
