Best fixes to resolve your Insignia TV’s Bluetooth issues

So you’ve tried pairing your Bluetooth device with your TV multiple times. Yet, you couldn’t quite get it to work.

Well, fret not. Because there are several easy fixes that you can do to resolve it.

Power cycle your TV and Bluetooth device

If they won’t pair, there’s likely a glitch in your TV or the Bluetooth device.

And the quickest solution is to perform a power cycle. In other words, just restart both devices.

So here’s how to perform a proper power cycle on your Insignia TV:

  1. Unplug the TV from its power source.
  2. Press and hold the TV’s power button for 10 to 15 seconds.
  3. Wait for about 1 minute.
  4. Plug the TV back into the outlet.

As for your Bluetooth device, just switch it off for about a minute. And then power it back on.

After restarting both devices, follow the pairing process again.

For many users, a simple restart was what fixed their Insignia TV’s Bluetooth problem.

Ensure that your Bluetooth device is within close proximity of the TV

Another issue you may encounter is your TV may fail to discover your Bluetooth device. Even if the device is already in pairing mode.

And a common cause for that is distance. Your device is likely too far from the TV.

Note: The ideal Bluetooth range is within 30 feet or 10 meters. And pairing would be much smoother the closer your Bluetooth device is to your TV.

So ensure that your device is close enough to the TV. If so, your Insignia TV should then be able to discover it.

Adjust the volume of the TV and the Bluetooth device

“The pairing was successful, yet I’m not hearing anything!”

I have to admit. This one actually happened to me.

I was able to pair my Bluetooth speaker with my Insignia TV successfully. I know because a message on the TV confirmed it.

However, I still wasn’t able to hear anything from my speaker.

As it turned out, the volume on my speaker was off.

So, in case it happens to you too…

Just check the volume levels. On both your Bluetooth device and your Insignia TV.

And ensure that they’re not muted.

Unpair and re-pair your Bluetooth device with your TV

Another common issue with Insignia’s Bluetooth connection is distorted audio. Where the sound isn’t coming clearly. Or it keeps cutting out.

Sometimes, it can happen when there are too many Bluetooth devices nearby. So all you have to do is switch off the Bluetooth of the other devices.

Another likely cause of distorted sound is the presence of a microwave oven nearby.

When the oven’s on, it can cause signal interference to your Bluetooth connection. So just unplug the oven to resolve the issue.

However, if there are no other Bluetooth devices or microwave ovens nearby…

And you’re still getting poor audio quality…

The best solution is to unpair. Then, re-pair the Bluetooth connection. Here’s how:

Step #1: Go to your Insignia TV’s main screen by pressing Home on the remote.

Step #2: Select Settings and click Controllers and Bluetooth Devices.

Step #3: Scroll down to Other Bluetooth Devices and select it.

Step #4: Look for your Bluetooth device and highlight it. Then press your remote’s Stop button to unpair.

Wait for your TV and Bluetooth device to unpair. You’ll see a prompt on the screen indicating that the unpairing was successful.

But even after unpairing, stay on the Other Bluetooth Devices page.

Step #5: Click Add Bluetooth Devices. Then select your device to re-pair it with the TV.

Update Your Insignia's OS

Your Insignia’s Fire TV OS is among the best in the industry.

But still, it does experience temporary malfunctions time and again. Including Bluetooth connection issues.

And these glitches usually happen more often if the OS is outdated.

When all other fixes fail, then consider performing a factory reset on your TV.

Just a heads up. Doing this will erase your personal data from the TV.

Just press and hold the Back button and the right side of the navigation circle. Do this for 10 seconds.

This will take you to the reset screen. And from there, select Continue the factory reset.

  1. Press your TV remote’s Home button.
  2. Click Settings.
  3. Select Device and Software.

But if you happen to own an older model with a different OS…

You’re likely not going to find an option to pair Bluetooth devices to your TV.

But don’t worry. You may use a Bluetooth transmitter instead.

If your transmitter’s low on battery power…

You may connect it to your TV or laptop’s USB port to charge.

Step #2: Connect one end of the AUX cable to the Bluetooth transmitter. And then connect the other end to your TV’s AUX or audio jack.

Step #3: Turn on your Bluetooth transmitter. It’ll start searching for nearby Bluetooth devices.

Step #4: Enable pairing mode on your Bluetooth device. It should then automatically connect to the Bluetooth transmitter.
