Hisense has been China’s most dominant TV brand for over a decade.
But did you know that it’s not just manufactured in China?
I bet you didn’t.
And you know what?
I’ve got plenty more things to share about this TV brand.
Keep reading to find out:
- The various locations of Hisense’s manufacturing facilities.
- 7 important things that you need to know about Hisense TVs.
- 3 highly-recommended Hisense TV models that’ll suit any budget.
- And a lot more…
Where are Hisense TVs made?
Hisense TVs are made in various countries. Spanning Europe, Asia, South America, and Africa. Some of these countries include China, South Africa, the Czech Republic, and Mexico. The Hisense Group owns 14 high-end production facilities worldwide. With over 80,000 employees comprising its workforce.
7 things you need to know about Hisense TVs
#1: Originated from China
Let’s go back a bit and discuss the origins of Hisense TVs.
Before becoming Hisense, the company was initially called Qingdao No. 2 Radio Factory.
It was founded in 1969 in the Shandong Province of China.
And as you can tell from its original name…
The company mainly focused on manufacturing radios when it started.
And it wouldn’t be 2 years later, in 1971, that they began producing TV sets.
Then, in 1994, 35 years after its founding, the company changed its name to Hisense Group.
And while it has expanded into producing various home appliances…
TV remains its top product.
Since 2004, Hisense TVs have consistently been the best-selling TVs in China.
And it’s now a state-owned company.
Fun fact: In 2013, Hisense invented a see-through TV screen. The company, however, didn’t follow through on mass-producing it. As initial feedback wasn’t good.
#2: Manufactured on 4 different continents
Curious where Hisense TVs are actually manufactured?
Well, I did mention that the Hisense Group is China-based.
However, as Hisense TVs grew in popularity…
The company also eventually expanded its manufacturing operations.
As of early 2022, Hisense now owns several high-end manufacturing facilities.
And they’re spread out among 4 continents, namely:
- Asia.
- Africa.
- Europe.
- South America.
Hisense owns production facilities in Serbia, Slovenia, and the Czech Republic in Europe.
It also has a factory in Cape Town, South Africa. As well as in Mexico.
And as Hisense TVs continue to gain more market shares…
Expect the Hisense Group to put up even more facilities across the globe.
#3: Among the Top 5 best-selling TVs in the US
Hisense may be the king of TV brands in China.
But in the US, however, they’re not quite there yet.
In a 2020 study by Statista, Hisense TVs ranked fifth in smart TV sales in the US. With about 5% market share in the industry.
The 4 brands ahead of Hisense are the following:
- LG.
- TCL.
- Vizio.
- Samsung.
Samsung, in particular, is well ahead of everyone else. At 33% market share.
But to Hisense’s credit, its ranking’s still quite an improvement. Considering it wasn’t even in the top 10 in 2017.
And as long as the company continues to release high-quality but affordable TVs…
I wouldn’t be surprised if they continue to move up the sales rankings. And firmly establish itself as one of the best smart TV brands.
#4: Has been using the Roku OS since 2014
One of the many reasons why Hisense TVs have been steadily growing in sales is the Roku OS.
Roku has always been known for its streaming devices. Helping turn TVs into smart TVs.
But while it did consider making its own smart TV…
The company instead decided to lend its software to several TV manufacturers. Including Hisense.
It was actually in 2014 that the Hisense Group and Roku struck a deal. With the latter licensing its OS for Hisense TVs to use.
And looking back, it was a great strategic move that benefited both sides.
More and more people are buying Hisense TVs today. And their Roku OS is certainly one of the major reasons for that.
Some of the best features and qualities of the Roku OS include:
- Automatic software update.
- Over 300 free Live Channels.
- Clean and easy-to-navigate interface.
- 250,000 free movies and TV episodes.
- Alexa and Google Assistant compatibility.
#5: There are also Hisense TV variants with an Android OS
Another great thing about Hisense TVs is their OS variety.
Unlike Samsung or LG, Hisense TVs don’t simply rely on one particular software.
That’s why even with the success of Hisense Roku…
You’d still be able to find many Hisense TVs with an Android TV OS.
And as far as performance…
The Android TV OS is right up there with Roku among the best in the business.
As many of you may know, it’s Google-made software. And you can’t go wrong with something built by one of the world’s biggest tech companies.
Here are just a few things that are great about the Android TV OS:
- Watchlist feature.
- Google Assistant.
- Built-in Chromecast.
- Customizable home screen.
- 5000+ apps that are available for download.
#6: Uses ULED for its TV panels
LCD. LED. OLED. QLED.
I’m sure many are familiar with those acronyms.
But for the folks that aren’t…
Those acronyms refer to the display technologies that various TV brands use.
For instance, Samsung mainly uses QLED for their most expensive TVs.
This technology relies on many mini-LED backlights to enhance picture quality. And it’s great if you prefer a really bright screen.
On the other hand, LG and Sony use OLED technology.
This one doesn’t rely on backlights. It’s also able to produce a deeper shade of black. And it doesn’t use as much energy as QLED. So it’s ideal if energy saving’s among your top priorities.
But do you know what particular display tech Hisense TVs use?
A company-built display called ULED. Or Ultra Light Emitting Diode.
4 key features make up a ULED display:
- Ultra 4K Resolution.
- Ultra Local Dimming.
- Ultra Wide Local Gamut.
- Ultra Smooth Motion Rate.
Now, I know those are pretty technical terms. And we don’t really need to go into details.
But let me just say this. The ULED display can compete with QLED and OLED, quality-wise.
And the main difference between them?
ULED is much cheaper to produce.
Hence, Hisense is able to manufacture great quality TVs. While still maintaining a low price.

#7: Launched its first Fire TV model in mid-2022
Hisense TVs already carry 2 of the best smart TV platforms in Roku and Android.
But as proof of the company’s determination to further expand…
It also recently partnered with tech giant Amazon.
And in May 2022, it officially launched the U6HF. A Hisense TV with Amazon’s Fire TV OS.
It’s only available in one size: 50 inches.
And it’s selling for $530. So it’s one of the more expensive Hisense TV models today.
However, it’s certainly worth it. Especially when you consider how good the Fire TV OS is.
Among Fire TV’s best features include:
- Live view Picture-in-Picture.
- Smart home device integration.
- Built-in Alexa for easy voice control.
- Access to over a million movies and series.
- 15,000+ apps that are available for download.
Bonus: There are Hisense TVs available for every budget
Here’s one more thing you need to know about Hisense TVs.
There are Hisense TVs available for all sorts of budgets.
What I mean to say is…
Hisense TVs aren’t only limited to cheap TVs. You can also find high-end models if that’s what you’re looking for.
Now, there are over 60 Hisense TV variants available. I understand it can be overwhelming trying to pick the best.
So, I’ve narrowed down the choices for you.
I’ll share with you my pick for the best high-end Hisense TV. Something that’s worth over $1000.
In addition, I’ll also reveal my choice for a mid-range Hisense. A TV that’s within the $400 to $700 range.
And lastly, I’ll also discuss what I believe is the best budget Hisense. With a price tag under $300.
Best high-end Hisense TV: 75U9DG
You’ll find a few Hisense TVs over $1000.
But in my opinion, the best one’s the 75U9DG.
This 75-inch TV costs $1999.
And it’s obvious Hisense really went all out with the specs.
The 75U9DG uses what’s called Dual Cell Technology. Basically, it’s 2 panels stacked together.
This helps create an even richer contrast compared to other TVs.
Moreover, this TV also has Quantum Dot Color. A technology that can produce over a billion hues.
And as for the audio, it uses Dolby Atmos surround sound technology. Giving you a cinema-like sound quality.
Furthermore, it also has an Android TV OS.
And with that, I can definitely say that this TV’s worth its asking price.
Best mid-range Hisense TV: 55U6G
Not everyone needs a high-end TV.
For many, a mid-ranger is more than enough to enjoy watching.
And for Hisense, an excellent mid-range model is the 55U6G.
You can buy this 55-inch variant for about $430.
It has Hisense’s patented ULED display. And it’s capable of streaming in 4K.
It’s also built with AI technology that helps optimize picture and audio quality.
And what I particularly like about this TV is its FilmMaker Mode.
Essentially, you’ll be able to watch a movie precisely how the filmmakers intended.
Overall, a great value Hisense TV.
Best budget Hisense TV: 32H4F
If you’re just looking for a TV to put in your bedroom or kitchen…
Hisense has plenty of budget ones.
But the one that stands out is the 32H4F.
At only $220, this 32-inch TV still packs many great features.
For one, it has a Roku OS. Which has over 500,000+ movies and TV series to choose from.
So you’ll get to enjoy this awesome software on such a cheap TV.
As for picture quality, it has a 720p HD resolution. Obviously not the best. But more than adequate for streaming.
In addition, this TV also integrates with Alexa and Google Assistant.
And it has a dedicated game mode. So it works really well with consoles.
Are Hisense TVs reliable?
Hisense TVs are reliable. On average, a Hisense TV’s lifespan is around 6 to 8 years. And it can last even longer depending on how you use it. It’s also one of the top 5 TV brands in the US. A testament to how much users trust and approve of this brand. So you can buy a Hisense TV with confidence.
