What’s the default Roku pin?
There’s no default Roku PIN. That’s because you need to set up this 4-digit code yourself. That said, if you want to create 1 for your account, just head to the official website of Roku. And you can easily set it up.
How to find the default Roku pin
To find the default Roku pin, you need to sign in to Roku’s official website.
However, it’s worth noting that…
A Roku pin is a 4-digit code that you need to make yourself.
With that said, if you haven’t made 1 before…
Then your Roku most likely doesn’t have a PIN yet.
“I created 1, but I forgot what it was.”
In that case, you should create a new PIN.
“Wait. Can’t I just check what my current code is?”
Unfortunately, no. That’s because Roku doesn’t have a dedicated page that shows your PIN.
And instead, they let you create a new 1 anytime you want.
With that said, the only way to know your PIN is to…
Create a new PIN for your Roku account in 9 easy steps
Step 1: Open up a browser
Launch any browser using a PC or a mobile device.
After doing so…
Step 2: Head to Roku’s official website

- Wait for Roku’s response.
- Open the link on their email and create your new password.

Step 4: Head to your My Account page
Note: If you’re already on this page, skip to the next step.
But if you’re not, tap the profile icon at the top-right corner.
And then click the My Account option on the window that appears.
Once you’re brought to a new page…
Step 5: Update your PIN preference
Now, you’ll see these 3 sections on your screen:
- Account information.
- PIN preference.
- Payment method.
And from these, focus on the middle section, which is the PIN preference.
Now, click the Update icon below it. And wait for the website to bring you to a new page.
Step 6: Read the information on your screen
As mentioned, Roku doesn’t show you your current PIN code, even if you have 1.
Instead, they let you create a new PIN anytime you want.
With that said, if your account already has a pin…
You’ll see a section called Change current PIN on the page.
And you can simply fill up this section to create a new code.
However, if this is your 1st time trying to create 1…
You should choose how you want to use your PIN in your Roku account now.
That’s because you won’t be able to create the code unless you do so.
With that said, you’ll have the choice to use your PIN for…
Making purchases and adding content
Under this, you’ll have the choice to use your code for:

Or, if you want, you can also choose not to require a PIN for actions like this.

Now, this section is for users that use the Roku Parental controls.
Here, you’ll have the choice to require a PIN for playing shows that are for:
- Teens.
- Little kids.
- Young kids.
And of course, you may also turn this OFF if needed.
So simply select 1 that suits your family best. And then…
Step 7: Create your PIN
After clicking any of the options that require the PIN above…
The Create PIN section will appear on your screen.
With that said, you should come up with a secure 4-digit code. And input it into the required space.
Pro tip: Avoid using generic codes like 1234 or 0000. Or even birth dates. That’s because they’re easy to guess, even for kids.
Step 8: Verify your PIN
Type out the same PIN again in the space below your first 1.
Note: If you see a red outline, your PINs don’t match. So you should retype both of them.
But if you don’t see a red color outlining the boxes, scroll down and…
Step 9: Click Save Changes
After doing so, wait for the website to load.
And you should be back at the My Account page you were ON earlier.

Before you bypass the Parental Controls PIN…
Note: This is meant to restrict children’s exposure to inappropriate content. With that said, if you have children in your house, I recommend keeping this activated for them.
But of course, if you ever need to adjust this or turn it OFF…
Here are the steps to bypass the PIN for Roku’s Parental Controls:
Step 1: Using a browser, head to my.roku.com and log in.
Step 2: Head to the My Account page of the website.
You can do so by clicking the profile icon at the top-right. And clicking My Account from the list.
Step 4: Under PIN preference, click Update.
Step 5: Go to the “Parental Controls for The Roku Channel” section.
Step 6: Choose the Parental Controls level appropriate for your needs.
But if you want to turn the PIN OFF for all types of content…

Note: Streaming apps like Netflix have their own Parental Control settings. So you may need to turn OFF their Parental Controls PIN separately.
Now, there’s also another way to bypass your PIN altogether.
And that’s by…
Factory resetting your Roku to bypass its PIN
See, a factory reset will delete your existing PIN.
However, bear in mind that this process will also delete your:
- Custom settings.
- Parental Controls.
- Existing payment methods.
- Saved accounts and preferences.
With that said…
I highly recommend sticking to the earlier methods if possible. So you won’t have to delete anything from your Roku.
But if you don’t mind setting your Roku up from scratch again…
Then you can also choose to…
Reset your PIN with a factory reset
Using your Settings:
- Turn ON your Roku and TV.
- Click Home on your remote.
- Scroll down and tap Settings.
- Click System > Advanced system settings.
- Choose Factory reset.
- For Roku TVs, tap Factory reset everything.
- Follow further instructions.
Using the buttons on the Roku device:
Step 1: Find the reset button of your Roku.
This is usually located at the bottom or on the back of the device. And it’s labeled RESET.
Note: Some buttons are tactile, while some are in a pinhole design.
Step 2: Press and hold the reset button for 10 seconds.
If you have a tactile button, you can simply do this with your fingers.
But if you have the pinhole design, you’d need to use a paperclip or a needle to poke the hole.
Step 3: Wait for the status LED to blink.
After pressing the button for 10 seconds, give your device a couple of minutes to reset.
Then wait for the LED light on the device to blink rapidly.
Once it does…
Step 4: Set up your device again.
Input your log-in credentials after your Roku restarts.
Step 5: Enjoy your pin-free experience.
You can now make purchases, add content to your Roku, and watch anything without a PIN.
