But it simply means 2 things work together to bring you Ring alerts. And those are:
- Hardware.
- Software.
In your case, your mobile device is the hardware component. Meanwhile, the software is the Ring app.
Now, how does knowing these help solve your problem?
Well, since you already know how notifications are sent…
You can turn their sounds off by “shutting down” the hardware or the software.
That’s why I’ll be providing 2 methods to stop getting alerts.
And so, I’ll start with…
Method 1: From your mobile device (3 steps)
The Ring app is only compatible with 4 types of devices, namely:
- iPad.

Method 2: Using the Ring app (6 steps)
Turning off notification sounds using your mobile device can be tricky. Especially if you have an Android device since the steps vary per model.
That’s why you can do it on the Ring app instead.

#2: Tap the Menu icon on the top corner of the screen
Note: The Menu icon could be on the left or right corner. And it’s 3 lines stacked on top of each other.

- Tap a device on your list.
- Press Device Settings.
- Scroll down and click Ring Notification Sound.

#6: Reboot your mobile device
Rebooting the mobile device ensures the new Ring settings are effectively applied.
Android device:
- Find the Power button (either on the top or the right).
