  • What you should do if you find someone’s AirPods.
  • And many more…

Found AirPods, how to find the owner?

To find the owner of lost AirPods, ask anyone in the area if they lost theirs. This is the quickest way to find the owner. Another solution is to take a picture and post it on a local page. Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok are great options too. Finally, contact 1-800-MY-APPLE and ask for some help.

What do you do if you find someone’s AirPods?

If you find someone’s AirPods, there are 3 ways to find the owner.

#1: Ask anyone in the area if they lost their AirPods

Chances are, the owner lost their AirPods 10 minutes before you found them.

In that case, you can ask people in the area if they…

  • Noticed someone looking for lost AirPods.
  • Saw someone asking around if they’ve seen their AirPods.

If the owner turned on their Find My app, he/she’ll most likely head to the location it was last seen.

And when they do, you’ll be able to return their AirPods.

If you’re bold enough, you can shout if anyone lost their AirPods.

For example, let’s say you found the AirPods in Tyson’s Corner Center.

You can ask mall security if you can use their Public Address (PA) system.

This way, if the owner’s still inside the mall, they’d hear about it easily.

If that doesn’t work, don’t worry.

While waiting for the owner to find their AirPods, you can also…

#2: Post the found AirPods on social media platforms or a local page

First, take a picture of the AirPods.

After, create a post and post it on Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook

Why TikTok?

Because thousands of people are on the app daily.

What if the owner’s friend catches your TikTok post? Or your Instagram reel?

It’s not a guarantee, but your chances of finding the owner are much higher.

If you’re posting it as a written post on Facebook, be sure to include the following:

  • Your contact number.
  • Photo of lost AirPods.
  • Additional info or notes.
  • The location of where you found them.

Post the AirPods you found on the following platforms:

  • TikTok.
  • Instagram reel.
  • Facebook post.
  • Instagram story.
  • Facebook story.

If the owner doesn’t contact you within an hour or two, there’s one more thing you can do.

Let’s say you found the AirPods in a Starbucks cafe.

Rather than sit and wait the whole day for the owner, you can ask the Starbucks staff for help.

If they’re willing, you can leave it with their manager.

Why?

There’s a good chance the owner will realize they left it in Starbucks.

Or, they might use the Find My app and head there.

And as an extra step, you can post a note on the door of the Starbucks cafe saying:

“Found lost AirPods. Please contact (your contact number).”

This also works if you found the AirPods in a mall.

You could talk to mall security about it and do the same.

#3: Contact Apple

Contact Apple

Contacting Apple is your last resort.

Call 1-800-MY-APPLE and let them know you found lost AirPods.

If by some miracle you have the serial number of the lost AirPods, you can give this info to Apple too.

This should make it easier for Apple to track down the owner.

But, take note.

There’s no guarantee Apple will track down the user.

This may be a breach of a privacy policy that may prevent Apple from doing so.

In rare cases, the owner might have named their AirPods with their name or phone number.

Of course, you’ll have to connect to their AirPods first.

This is a good option if no one contacted you after about 3 to 5 days.

Simply place the lost AirPods on your AirPods case and it should pair with your phone.

Note: If you have an Android phone, you’ll need to reset the AirPods first.

From there, check if the owner named their AirPods using their phone number or name.

If you see a phone number, you can contact the owner.

If you see a name, add this to your post when posting about it on social media.
