Vizio soundbar flashing white light: 5 steps to fix it
#1: Check if your device is in Demo mode
Why is your soundbar displaying a flashing white light?
The number 1 reason for this is that your soundbar is in Demo mode.
What does this mean, you ask?
Demo mode is also called floor mode or kiosk mode.
And it’s designed to show off the features of a product; in this case, your soundbar.
This usually happens when you’ve just set up the product.
It can also happen when you change something in the settings. Then, it accidentally triggered Demo mode.
Other times, the hardware may fail and the device goes back to Demo mode.
Whatever the case, your soundbar shouldn’t be in Demo mode for you to use it.
And there are signs that indicate this.
Aside from the blinking white light, you’ll also notice that:
- You can’t turn off the soundbar.
- You have tried resetting your soundbar but its settings didn’t change.
So how do you exit Demo mode?
That depends on the specific type of Demo mode your device is on.
For example, if you have the SmartCast model, you can disable Demo mode like this:
Step 1: On your remote, tap or press Home.
Step 2: Find Settings.
Step 3: Navigate to Preferences or System Settings.
Step 4: Find Shop-front Display Setting.
Step 5: Select Demo Mode.
Step 6: Set Demo Mode to off.
Or if you don’t have a remote, you can do the following:
- Hold the Input and Volume Up/Bluetooth buttons for at least 10 seconds.
- Wait until the lights flash 4 times and turn off.
“But the lights didn’t flash 4 times, what do I do?”
Just press and hold the Input and Bluetooth/Volume Up buttons again.
Do this until you see the lights flash 4 times and then turn off.

#2: Check the Bluetooth connection
Here’s what the manual says:
Bluetooth issues could also cause flashing white lights on the device.
So if your soundbar has Bluetooth on but it’s not connected to any device, the lights will flash.
But, wait up, and don’t fret…
Fixing this is super simple: you just need to pair your soundbar with another device.
“But my soundbar should already be paired with my devices.”
There are instances when Bluetooth pairing fails.
For example, if you’ve connected your device to another Bluetooth speaker.
Or you deliberately unpaired your soundbar from your device.
To connect your soundbar to your device via Bluetooth:
- Press and hold the Bluetooth button on your soundbar.
- Do this for at least 5 seconds.
- On your device, search for your soundbar.
- Tap “Pair”.
Once your soundbar has been paired with a device, the lights should stop flashing.
“What if I’m still getting the flashing white light?”
It’s time to check whether there’s anything that’s hindering the pairing.
According to Vizio, your sound bar’s Bluetooth signal only works within 30 feet.
If your device is situated farther, it’s a good idea to move it closer to your soundbar.
Also, there should be no physical obstructions.
What are those?
It can be anything that blocks your soundbar from connecting to your device via Bluetooth.
A great example is a thick, solid wall.
And finally, check for the presence of other wireless devices.
These could get in the way of a successful pairing.
Examples of such devices include:
- Cordless phones.
- Microwave ovens.
- Wireless security cameras.
Regardless of this issue, Vizio is among the best soundbars you can buy. Find out why:
#3: Reset your sound bar’s input settings
What if your soundbar isn’t in Demo mode, and it’s paired with a device via Bluetooth?
What could be the reason why you’re seeing a flashing white light?
If the above steps didn’t quite fix the issue…
Then, your audio input settings need to be checked.
“What does that mean?”
So your soundbar should be connected to a device or an audio source.
And for it to work, it should be able to identify the audio input source.
And if it can’t, it’ll cycle through the various inputs until it properly detects the right one.
That’s why you see the flashing lights.
“When does that happen?”
This problem can arise every time you change audio inputs.
For example, you may have switched from AUX to Bluetooth.
To fix this, you can reset your sound bar’s input settings.
- Press and hold the Input and Volume Up buttons for at least five seconds.
- Wait for the lights to stop flashing.
Once they do, choose the right input setting on the device connected to your soundbar.
So, if you’re connected through an HDMI connection, choose HDMI eARC.

BONUS: Reset your soundbar

Still no luck?
You can try resetting your soundbar back to factory settings.
How does this help?
Doing a factory reset erases all the previous settings you’ve set on your device.
And when this happens, you may finally fix any errors.
Note: Resetting your soundbar back to factory settings should be done as a last resort.
Don’t reset your soundbar if you still have options you can try. And don’t forget to try those I listed above.
That aside, how will you reset it? It won’t be complicated, just do the following:
- Press and hold the Bluetooth and Volume Down buttons for at least 5 seconds.
- Wait until the lights flash three times.
You can also try erasing all the settings through your remote.
Follow these steps.
Step 1: On your remote, Find Settings.
Step 2: Navigate to “Setup”.
Step 3: Using the Next/Previous buttons, find “Reset All”.
Step 4: Select “Reset All”.
Step 5: Wait for the lights to flash 3 times.
Once that’s done, that means your device has been reset back to its original configuration.
